New Update!!!

Well, the first week of school is behind us, yay!!  So far things are going well.  Mason is his normal serious self and Madison, so far, is much happier this year than last!  Mason got Mrs. Morrow for his 1st Grade teacher and Madison got Mrs. Timberlake for her 4th Grade teacher.

Another update is that those awesome, amazing Pumas are the 2010 8U Coach Pitch CHAMPIONS!!!  They went the whole season undefeated!!!! Even through the state tournament!!!  It was such an unbelievable season!!!

One more thing…those awesome, amazing Pumas are now playing 10U Kid Pitch softball for the fall season.  They are 2 games into the season and lost both games.  It’s a whole new ball game now!  They are learning how to hit against a pitcher that throws it about 35-40 mph.  They are learning how to bunt.  They aren’t playing bad, their defense is still there, they just have to learn some new things.  Luckily, this fall season is really just a “practice” season.  When spring comes they will all be on different teams because most of them will be moving up to 10U and they will have to go back into the draft.  Matt (their coach) thought that this fall season would be a good jump start for the girls even though they won’t be together next season.  He’s all about taking care of the girls and teaching them as much as he can before they move on.  It’s really bittersweet.  I know all the girls will miss him and his dad and all the other coaches!!

Update...

It’s been awhile since anyone posted anything, so here’s some updates…

Mason is doing well in t-ball.  Each game/practice there is more improvement.  He acts like he is really enjoying himself now, getting to know the game and making new friends.  Kindergarten graduation is coming up as well, so this is a very exciting time for him.

Madison is always reaching to do better in her softball “career”.  She is such a perfectionist (I wonder where she gets that from, *sigh), and takes everything so personally but she is really an awesome little ball player.  She is having so much fun with the girls and it’s nice to see her have friends that she really enjoys being around instead of hearing about the drama at school.  She only has 1 girl on her team that goes to the same school.

I will try to post things on a more regular basis…but we’ll see J

Pumas win scrimmage!!!

The Pumas won their 1st scrimmage of the season.  I don’t know the name of the team they played but they were a Kid Pitch team!!!! (we are Coach Pitch which means they are a league ahead of us).  The girls were a little sluggish at first but by the 3rd inning they remembered how to play ball!  Madison did AWESOME!!!  She has become one of their strongest hitters!  It was so exciting!  Can’t wait for the season to really start!!

Pumas (Madison) and Rattlers (Mason)

Well, the season is upon us!  Spring and baseball go hand in hand.  Madison will be playing in her first scrimmage of the season this evening.  It’s rumored that they are one league above us.  Which means, we play “coach pitch” softball and they play “kid pitch”.  It should be pretty interesting since we’ve only had 3 practices so far this season.  The girls know how to play, there is only 1 new girl on the team this year.  Should be exciting!!!!

As for Mason, he is a Rattler!  From what I’m hearing, their colors will be maroon and white but that still remains to be seen.  When he’s at practice he acts like he’s never picked up a bat or ball and has no clue how to run the bases.  They have him playing 2nd base and it’s simply hilarious.  He basically stands there because he thinks wherever they put him he can’t move from there or something.  And then they will tell him to cover 2nd and he acts like he doesn’t know where 2nd base is.  It’s quite aggravating but so adorable at the same time.  Hopefully, he will loosen up and start playing the way he does when he’s in the backyard.  We’ll see how he progresses.

Can’t wait to get going.  I will post schedules and pix as I get them.

Upcoming softball & baseball season

We are about to embark on a grand adventure featuring Madison & Mason in the upcoming Spring ball season.  This year’s season should be fun and full of excitement.  Madison will be featured on the Puma’s team again this year but newcomer to the sport, Mason, will have to play in a “play day” to be watched by area coaches in order to be picked up in the draft.  Should be interesting to see what the newcomer will do. Stay tuned for future updates…

Trip to Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ

In case you missed these pictures from my Facebook or Flickr accounts, I wanted to share these and finally have my first blog post! It was a great trip!

Never experienced what people meant when they said "dry heat" before. A couple days it got to 100 there but felt like our 85, not bad at all. Could definitely live there. Phoenix is, I believe, the 5th largest metro area in the states. Around 3.5 million I heard, which more then doubles Dallas. It's nestled in a big valley surrounded by some desert looking mountains. And parts of the edge of the city stop to become Indian Reservation land, which means they have casinos!

I went to a conference at the Mayo Clinic there in Scottsdale, so some of the pictures are of that facility.
